Our Mission
The Road Ready Foundation is dedicated to ensuring comprehensive automotive safety education is widely accessible throughout the state of Georgia. Our mission is built upon three core tenets: deepening tire safety education, promoting seatbelt usage, and reinforcing roadside safety behaviors as fundamental principles for responsible drivers. Our vision is to create a world where individuals, families, and communities embrace these core components as non-negotiable elements of roadside safety.
Our Story
On February 10, 2023, our family and community faced an unimaginable tragedy with the loss of Jackson - our beloved son, brother, and friend - at the young age of 19. Jackson, a vibrant soul who loved cars, video games, and music, was known for his authenticity and courage, deeply cherished by his family and friends.
Despite taking all safety precautions - he was a passenger, wearing his seatbelt, and the car was traveling under the speed limit - the vehicle hydroplaned in inclement weather, colliding with an 18-wheeler. The accident was ultimately attributed to excessively worn tires.
Even in tragedy, Jackson's giving spirit shone through, as his final gift was the selfless act of organ donation, saving three lives.
Driven by this heartbreaking event, we channeled our grief into purpose, establishing the Road Ready Foundation. Our mission is to raise awareness about vital crash prevention education, focusing on tire safety and roadside preparedness. Through this foundation, Jackson's passion for cars and his legacy of protecting others live on, ensuring that teenage drivers and communities are equipped with the knowledge to prevent similar tragedies.
Our Why
Our foundation exists to prevent similar tragedies, driven by the heartbreaking loss of Jackson Bebiak and the critical insights it revealed:
- Jackson's tragic accident was preventable, caused by excessively worn tires, not distracted driving, speeding, or impairment. The incident revealed a critical gap in road safety awareness, showing how simple maintenance oversights can have catastrophic consequences.
-
Key statistics underscore the urgent need for education:
- There are over 600 lives lost on our roadways due to driving on unsafe tires.
- Teen drivers have a 3x higher fatal crash rate than adults per mile driven.
- 40% of teens drive on unsafe tires.
- 43% of teens have never checked tire tread depth.
- 32% of teens have never checked tire pressure.
- There is a clear opportunity: comprehensive education on tire safety and roadside preparedness can prevent these tragedies.
- 29 states require driver education for novice drivers, virtually none require comprehensive tire safety education. What does your state do?
The Road Ready 3 I's
Inspect. Inflate. Identify.
Inspect your tread to ensure you have enough traction. Inflate your tires to the proper pressure. Identify defects that could lead to a tire failure.
Three simple steps. One safer drive. Every Mile Matters. Every Life Counts.
- Inspect = Tread depth and traction
- Inflate = Air pressure
- Identify = Structural condition and defects
